| So after the practice round (which was totally horrible since we were all out of practice... why did I come back to school for this again? but Mr. Walton seems like a pretty cool person and does know a little bit about policy... teehee at Kevin's "fat cat" comment in the round) I went back to the speech room to call my parents and Doug was there with a novice girl who wanted to try debate and she was asking him which debate she should do. When he asked her what event she wanted to do, she said, "Well, I kinda wanted to do PoFo." And then he pulls that Parli thing. "Do you want to do a lot of work at home?" "Well.. not really..." "Well then your only option would be Parli! Blab, blab, blab about the wonders of Parli." Wow. Way to go, Doug. If your recruiting tons of slackers, that's not my problem. I don't understand what is so surprising about the fact that Parli is the most commonly illegitimate debate (and I say "commonly illegitimate" because I have seen good Parli debates so I do know that it can be just as legitimate as any other debate event) when their primary recruiting strategy is "No prep necessary." Round of applause, anyone? God. Someone please go help the Parli team.

| Currently cutting a 1AC for the IPR Aff. This year's policy resolution is kickass (health aid in Subsaharan Africa). :] Now if only I could find a partner just as good... (or at least somehow avoid getting stuck with the least skilled & least hardworking of the policy team)! Bah. I am really sick of partners that don't know what's going on. Why can't this be a solo event? :'(
